Javier André De La Cruz was born in Vienna in 1999 and grew up in Comas, Peru – a district known for its dense poplulation and significant levels of poverty. His works demand a profound engagement with the social and emotional dynamics of contemporary life. Cows, horses, and dogs frequently appear in his paintings, either alone or in groups, embedded in suggested, organic landscapes. These depictions are characterized by anatomical precision and technical skill, capturing the movement and vitality of the animals. Gentle, delicate, and light tones contrast with the heaviness of dark colors and forms. The aesthetic tension reflect the thematic dichotomies in his artistic work. He draws parallels between the cohesion and protective behavior within animal communities and the often-missing social bonds in human society.
